Listen ummas. I am NOT a morning person. I will hit snooze until the alarm gives up and my kids will all wake up before me. But once I am up, I will show UP for myself to do my morning skincare routine. Before I go into the products, here are three things that are more important than any product you use.
-
Consistency: baby your skin everyday and I promise it will improve. Like most things in life, there is no miracle product that will make our skincare worries go away. But consistency is key.
-
Layers: Let the product soak in between layers. Pat pat pat, and maybe don’t use too much product even. Wait until the product is at least 95% absorbed before jumping to the next step. And if you absolutely have no time, at least do the toner - moisturizer - sunscreen. PROMISE ME.
-
Facial massage direction: I basically give myself a mini facial every morning and night. I know some of you are gentle with your face, but I also know SOME of you (eh hem UmmaNola CEO) are rough as hell. What did the face do that you have to be so rough? Gentle finger tips and always try to 펴 (smooth out) the lines with your facial massage. Watch my reel for tips.
Ok so the products. I know there are so many good products out there. So why should you care about my routine? You don’t need to but here are some of my mottos when it comes to skincare that works for ME. 1) Cheap (hahaha). Ok I mean affordable. If it’s so precious, then I won’t be consistent with it because I will try to save that junk to last me a life time. Sure sometimes I splurge on some products but morning products should be chill and simple. 2) Accessible. I need to be able to restock easily. So if you’re a cheap umma like me, then here are the products.
-
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser 10/10: No need to go heavy with a foam cleanser. Just use this. light, simple, and you can get it at Costco. 얼마나좋아.
-
Anza Heartleaf Soothing Toner 10/10: I’ve tried almost every toner out there and they are all 비슷비슷해 similar. This one for some reason is so good. Like it feels like a glass of water when you are super thirsty, but for your skin. Some toners are a little thick or slimy, but this one just feels perfect. A little pricer than others but honestly it is worth it.
-
Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence 10/10: Cult classic for years. Good and affordable.
-
Goodal Green Tangerine Vitamin C Serum 10/10: Most vitamin Cs I try, I’m like “meh.” This one I really could see spots lightening up. Nothing is going to be a miracle product that zaps your sunspots away in a week, but consistency is key. I’ve tried other competitor / popular dark spot serums and have some opinions of my own… more to come on that.
-
Torriden Dive-In Hyaluronic Acid Serum 10/10: Feels like your skin jumping into a swimming pool. Their branding is so simple and I am totally sold on it.
-
Son&Park Filter Cream Glow 9/10: I don’t see this online anymore and to be honest I got it ages ago. May have expired but this cheap ajooma will use it till it’s DONE. It is really good for glow but if you know of any good daytime moisturizers, then please share your recs!
-
Naturium Dew Glow Moisturizer 7/10: I was a little disappointed about this. It was so hyped up online. It makes my eyes water like crazy. I’ve tried to apply sunscreen avoiding my eyes, but almost always, watery eyes, and I end up driving to work with only one eye open because of the tears. It’s a problem. I still use it because I will never let product go to waste.
-
Roundlab Sunscreen 10/10: This is my go to. I’ve tried this and their tinted sunscreen and both are so good. So cool, refreshing, blends like magic.
Anyways, if you’ve read this far down, then let’s be friends because I love a good patient friend, ahahah. I know it seems like a lot of steps but once you get into it, 4 minutes is all you need. Get that umma gloWwWw. K bye ummas. love you!
